
AWARD WINNER: The Cameron team restored a 100 year old historically registered building. Key facets of the project included seismic upgrading and retrofit to structural steel, new life safety of interior, classrooms, exterior walls to fireplaces, stairways, new roof, elevator and upgrades to plumbing, HVAC and electrical. Demolition and construction were scheduled around school events. The original structure was built in 1903 from adobe brick and had sawn lumber. A prior contractor was hired to re-roof the building however due to overloading with materials the roof collapsed. Cameron was hired to work with the structural engineer to redesign the roof using trusses so it matched the original roof style. Complete historic renovation of the old Fort Douglas Hospital for the University of Utah for the offices and classrooms for the Rocky Mountain Center of Occupational and Environmental Health.
